The power of a voice, changing the world

Sometimes I think everything around me is ordered in such a way that I will stay busy for months and wont publish anything here… Anyway, this isn’t the subject, I will like to talk about something that reminds me that life is a gift, and nothing should take that from us.

I did my research about the most influential women, what they’ve achieved and how gender equality is the issue, nowadays. All this reminded me about my problems, the typical thing, they’re not as big as they look, and there is so much more we can do, to appreciate life, and to defend those purposes, our believes.

This girl, she inspires me, just listening to her ideas and her centered speeches, how she’s able to change the world.

If it is not happening in your city, or near you, it doesn’t mean it is not actually something real, I’m talking about wars, political matters or even a natural disaster. These things happen, and people are being harmed or losing everything... so yes, it’s real.

But... ¿Who is “She”?

Her name is Malala Yousafzai. She is 17 years old now. The whole world knows her name, but if you don´t, well, it’s ok, now you’ll know.. That’s why I decided to write down a part of her story and achievements. I hope you’ll like it and you’ll feel as inspired as I do about Malala and what she stands for.

Year 2009. Her story began. In Swat Valley, Pakistan, when the education was prohibited for girls. Malala at age 13, wrote anonymously about her thoughts, her experience and how she disagreed this imposition, she did it in a blog from the BBC. This started growing, and the Taliban knew about it and found out who was the real author.

2012, a Taliban aggressor got into the bus Malala was in, when she was going back home, after school. The gunman opened fire  at her head and neck. The man ran away…

Malala’s condition was critical, she had intensive care but the doctors had to remove part of her brain, trying to save her. And it happened… nobody believed it, she did survived, after the proper care, and she did it without having brain damage or problems in her nervous system.

Malala should’ve died, death was near, but she survived.

"We will certainly kill her," a spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban said.

During a speech for the United Nations Malala Yousafzai said, “They thought a bullet would silence us, but they failed. Nothing changed in my life except this: Weaknesses, fear and hopelessness died. Strength, power and courage was born,” she said.

In the face of oppression and bitter injustice, she demands education and opportunity. In the face of violence from the hands of cowards, she refuses to back down.

Malala is a testament that women everywhere will not be intimidated into silence. We will make our voices Heard” –(Time, magazine; 2014)

So.. what do you think now?

She is studying, and today she’s still fighting for a worldwide cause. She stands for world peace, and she has received more than 10 awards for her labor.
